DATA 2004 - Data Acquisition, Wrangling and Visualization

1 Course Unit(s)
In a world awash in data, the most challenging and time-consuming part of any data analytics project is obtaining the data, examining its quality, and formatting and transforming it for further analysis. This course will focus on the skills necessary to acquire data from relational databases (SQL) and websites, merging data sources, structuring for analysis, cleaning for errors and outliers, and transformation. Students will discuss and apply best practices for data visualization for exploration, hypothesis generation, and ethical storytelling. Finally, students will use their own disciplinary lens to locate data, wrangle and propose research questions informed by their disciplinary perspective using real data. Standard grading
