- Tradition (TRAD)

Emphasis
3 courses
Each student should create an emphasis in consultation with a faculty member from the Religion program. The emphasis should go beyond the courses listed above and should include at least one course at the 3000-level. This could be a particular tradition (such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, or Judaism), geographical region (religions in Asia, religions in the Americas, religions in the Middle East), analytical lens (gender, race, sexuality), theme (religion and migration, religious texts), methodological approach (religion and visual/material culture, theory, history, ethnography), or other focus based on the student’s interests.
Recommendation
Students planning graduate work should take French or German through 1034.
