SOC 2814 - Families in Society 1 Course Unit(s) The family operates globally as a major social institution that defines cultural norms around how we form relationships and kinship structures. This course examines the role of the family across lines of social difference, its impact on individuals and their socialization, and how the family intersects with social institutions. Considers a history of the family along with contemporary family trends and a variety of family structures.
