SOC 2164 - Sociology of Mexican Immigration 1 Course Unit(s) The course examines the immigration of Mexicans to the U.S. The course contains seven parts: 1) examines the history and dynamics of Mexican migration to the U.S.; 2) analyzes demographic characteristics of Mexican immigrants; 3) compares theories of Mexican immigration; 4) studies the economic causes of immigration; 5) interrogates what the migration experience itself is; 6.) studies the settlement and integration of Mexican immigrants in the U.S.; and, 7) scrutinizes U.S. immigration policies towards Mexico.
