EDU 3054 - Instructional Strategies and Content Area Literacy for Learners in Middle and Secondary Schools 1 Course Unit(s) This course is required for any student seeking teacher certification at the middle grade, secondary, or P-12 level. Methods for teaching the disciplines (e.g. mathematics, English, history, biology, art, Spanish, etc.), including culturally responsive strategies, are explored through a content area literacy framework. Students will learn how to teach reading, writing, and speaking across the curriculum, focusing on the content area(s) in which they shall be certified; texts, therefore, may be customized accordingly, and digital literacies unique to the disciplines are included. Requires 15 field hours. Requires 8 field hours
