ANTH 3314 - Latin American Prehistory 1 Course Unit(s) Focusing on 20,000 years of human presence in Latin America and the Caribbean, from the arrival of the first people from Asia at the end of the last ice age to the arrival of Europeans in the sixteenth century, this course offers an overview of major cultural developments in the region, including the origins of agriculture, village life, and the first cities. Using archaeological, historical, and ethnographic source material, the course culminates in an examination of the Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations, including the radical changes that accompanied the arrival of Europeans.
