ANTH 2724 - Maritime Archaeology

Maritime archaeology is a subdiscipline within archaeology that studies human interaction with waterways (including the sea, lakes and rivers) through the study of associated material culture, including boats and ships, other vessels, shore facilities, port-related structures, cargoes,
human remains and submerged landscapes. Students explore the ways in which maritime archaeological research is designed, conducted, and some specific case studies explored. Students also explore the special considerations for underwater research.
