CLA 2714 - Ancient Medicine 1 Course Unit(s) Also listed as PHIL 2714 . This course explores the birth and development of a medical science in Greco-Roman antiquity. We will read widely in both Greek and Roman sources, and will also discuss how Greco-Roman medicine bears on broader themes, such as ancient conceptions of gender and race. Other topics to be covered include ancient medical ethics, religious medicine in the ancient world, and ancient medical education.
