HIST 2014 - Shooting America: Photography, 1860-1960 1 Course Unit(s) An examination of visual texts that reflected, shaped or maligned cultures, places and people in the United States. Course participants will be expected to: 1. cultivate a theoretical framework for visual analysis in order to “read” images critically and 2. seek to understand the social, political and personal contexts in which important bodies of photographic work were created and disseminated.
