REL 2104 - Theory and Methods in Religion 1 Course Unit(s) The class examines how to research and write within religious studies, an academic field that is inherently interdisciplinary, in preparation for independent research. The course is organized around major methods, including: ethnography, history, genealogy, quantitative sociology, comparative religions, and philosophy. For each method, we read a theory, an example, and primary source material. Then, we practice writing in each method. To conclude, we develop a concise proposal for a feasible senior research project. Useful to students in all disciplines.
