HIST 3554 - History of Imperial Russia 1 Course Unit(s) An examination of autocracy, bureaucracy, and serfdom in Imperial Russia. Focus is on the attempts to modernize the empire in the nineteenth century, the revolutionary movements from Decembrism to Leninism, the era of “Great Reforms,” and the critical role of the intelligentsia. Concludes with the revolution of 1905 and the events leading to 1917. (Modern European field).
