ENG 2614 - American Short Story 1 Course Unit(s) A study of the genre of the short story as conceived and crafted by American writers. The course will consider the nature and history of the short story, its development in America, its early American practitioners and theorists, and how American short fiction reflects and comments on American life and culture. May include the work of Poe, Hawthorne, Wharton, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Baldwin, O’Connor, Paley, Oates, Lahiri, and others.
