ARTH 1624 - Introduction to Chinese Art 1 Course Unit(s) An introductory-level course that surveys major trends in the arts of China from the Neolithic period to the early Modern era with focus on important monuments and objects within cultural contexts. Aesthetic issues will be related to contemporaneous developments in philosophy, religion, government, society and culture. Lectures, readings and discussions will help students acquire some understanding of technological and stylistic developments as well as aesthetic, theoretical and cultural issues.
