ENG 2814 - Shakespeare and Film

1 Course Unit(s)
Film offers directors, actors, and editors tools for reimagining Shakespeare’s work. This course examines his plays in their original cultural contexts and explores how their movie adaptations speak to contemporary trends and problems. Movie versions read help familiarize us with the stories and provide new ways of interpreting the language. In turn, knowledge of the text enables us to identify uniquely filmic features and analyze how they are used to produce interpretations of Shakespeare’s stories.
