FYS 1004 - First-Year Seminar 1 Course Unit(s) Designed to help introduce students to the rigorous intellectual work necessary at the college level. Courses are interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary in nature and draw from the instructor’s areas of interest and expertise. Includes a broad range of shorter readings and a longer, book-length text of the instructor’s choosing. The course stresses the skills of close and careful reading, critical thinking, thoughtful and respectful discussion, and effective academic writing.
