PSY 2534 - “Doing Gender” in Marriage 1 Course Unit(s) Also listed as WGS 2534 . An examination of the ways in which gender is activated and enacted in the institution of marriage in the United States from psychological, sociological, and historical perspectives. Uses a feminist lens to emphasize the roles of psychological and interactional processes between partners, and of cultural narratives and social institutions, in the experience of “doing gender” in marriage. Promotes the goals of authenticity and mindful decision-making as strategies for maximizing success in long-term partnerships.
